Senator Wellstone's "Politics"
Editor:
I am hearing once again from the teary-eyed crocodiles who grudgingly admit and mouth praises for the Senator. "He was a man of unflinching principles, feisty, the hope of the poor, helpless and disfranchised; that he held to his beliefs in the power to do good in government, etc., etc."
Then those opponents say, "but I disagreed with his politics 98%." WHAT EXACTLY, ARE THE POINTS ABOUT WHICH THEY OBJECT? These critics seldom, if ever, say any more than that they disagree. They've admitted that it was not is "feisty" style that turned them off. They saw that Paul was intense but "friendly." WHAT THEN?
Is it that these "crocs" are too cowardly to actually go on record against the human basic needs that require solutions--those the Senator saw so clearly and fought so hard to advance?
Do they ever propose "better" ways to help-- ways that those who need solutions can ever understand and agree with? NO, they do not! They constantly clutch their purses in horror--the co$t$ are too high, they say. But they vote to put our dollars in a doubtful adventure in Iraq.
Let's get real!! Paul Wellstone was real.
