Freethinker

a statement by the Web Mistress of the Red River Freethinkers

The American Heritage Dictionary defines it as: freethinker n. One who has rejected authority and dogma, esp. in his religious thinking, in favor of rational inquiry and speculation.

In truth what holds the Red River Freethinkers together is our free thought, not race, sex, food or ethnic background. We are not even all from the Red River Valley area. Aside from our desire to advocate free thought, diversity and tolerance of those different from the 'norm' there is little else to group us together.

Being a freethinker does not mean we hate religion, or god or that we want to take away anyone's right to worship as they will. We do not worship Satan, or any number of other stereotypes.

We are freethinkers. We happen to live in the Red River Valley and so are part of the RRF.

We mourn like the rest of the nation over the loss of so many innocent lives. Now, when the United States of America needs to stand together, there are those who would divide, who would point fingers and undermine the very principles that make our nation so great. Do not let these terrorists make us into beasts no better than they. That is what they want, and as a nation we must stand together.
